Women’s Health and IR

Women can specifically benefit from interventional radiology through minimally invasive treatments for uterine fibroids, pelvic congestion syndrome, and vein treatment. For example, uterine fibroid embolization uses a catheter to block the arteries that supply blood to the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.

In addition, our interventional radiologists can treat pelvic congestion syndrome using a sclerosant injected into the dilated veins causing the pain, closing them off, and eliminating pain and discomfort. Take a look at the procedures below, and contact us if you would like to learn more or believe you are a fit for one of our procedures.

Procedure Information

OVE is a minimally invasive treatment option for pelvic congestion syndrome.
Fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) tumors of muscle that develop in the wall of the uterus. Fibroids are extremely common, occurring in up to one-third of all women.
