Breast Imaging
Breast imaging radiologists specialize in the interpretation of medical images related to breast health. Using advanced imaging techniques such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, they meticulously analyze breast tissue to detect abnormalities such as tumors or cysts.
Our team is trained to provide interpretations of the most advanced breast imaging studies, including:
- Mammograms
- Diagnostic mammograms
- Breast MRI
- Ultrasound
- Breast biopsy
- Tomosynthesis
A breast imaging radiologist’s expertise is integral in the early detection of breast cancer and in guiding patients through screening, diagnosis, and treatment planning with precision and compassion.
Exams Read by Our Breast Imaging Specialists
Screening Mammography – A screening mammogram is an annual exam performed as a preventative measure.
Diagnostic Mammography – A diagnostic mammogram is used to look more closely at a specific area of abnormality.
Breast MRI – As a complement to mammography, this type of exam is most often used to screen patients at high risk for cancer.
Breast Ultrasound – Helps doctors examine breast lesions more closely and determine whether they are solid or fluid-filled.
Specialty exams/procedures performed by our breast imaging specialists
- Breast Biopsy – Often performed with imaging guidance, this minimally invasive procedure samples tissue from a suspicious area, which is then sent to pathology for analysis.
- Tomosynthesis – Also known as 3D mammography, is a huge leap forward in radiology’s ability to diagnose breast cancer in its earliest stages by creating a three-dimensional picture of the breast using x-rays.
The breast imaging physicians of Radiology Associates of North Texas are passionate about women’s health and committed to doing everything we can to support women as they undergo any of these imaging procedures.
